FOUR NIGHTS, FIVE DAYS
Our long weekend under the stars is based at one of the park’s many campsites that are only accessible by water. We have three campsites reserved on a thin strip of land between Sand Point and Mukooda Lake to strike the balance between community and privacy. As these are boat-in sites only, you have a few options for your tent + sleeping arrangements, all of which we will provide for you:
The Vintage Eureka (x2) - this tent “sleeps four” — but not the way we do it! We’ll set it up with either a queen air mattress + linen sheets or two twin cots with memory foam padding + organic cotton sheets. Talk about glamping! We have two of these guys — and the ability to do both as a queen or one queen and one twin double configuration.
The BIG Big Agnes - this tent “sleeps six” — but again, that’s too crampy for our style. We can set you up like true royalty with a queen air mattress + linen sheets to support two, or configure for three or four with two queens or a queen and cot (or two), just like above!
The solo Big Agnes - this little guy is a “two person” tent — but you guessed it, not our way! If you’re looking for a solo adventure, we can set this up for you with a sleeping pad and cozy bedding for your own private oasis.
The adventurous hammock - feeling like leaning a bit more toward the wild side? Opt to sleep under the stars in ENO’s double nest hammock, complete with a sleeping bag + pad, bug net, and rain fly system to keep off any overnight showers!
MN’S ONLY NATIONAL PARK
Since there are no roads to our campsite, you’ll instead drive to the small town of Crane Lake, MN and leave your car there. We will transport you and your clothes + necessities via boat to our base for the weekend! Parking will most likely be at a public boat launch/landing, but we are still finalizing this detail and will let you know as soon as we do!
Voyageurs National Park is the only National Park in Minnesota and is entirely navigable by water and over wild land — you cannot drive through it at all. Prepare for a weekend off-grid to unwind and recharge.
HUNTERS + GATHERERS
There are two paths for this retreat that honor the traditional roles some of our ancestors held: the path of the hunter and the path of the gatherer. Hunters: you’ll learn how to set a snare and have the chance to embark on a guided fishing trip with Voyageurs Guide Service (hosted by Alyssa’s cousin, Michael, who grew up in Voyageurs!). I asked him recently if he has ever had a trip where no fish were caught; “in all my years, never” he said. Pretty much as close to a guarantee as you can get! Gatherers: we will revel in wild blueberry season (which should be in full swing when we are there!), learn to make wild blueberry preserves, and meet several other native plants with medicinal and nutritious properties.
TL;DR
Honestly, there is so much we have included. Check below to see it all, but here’s the nuts + bolts of it:
meals, boat rental +gas (for five days), guide service and navigation, morning yoga, evening sound baths, survival skills, hiking, cliff jumping, and more! There’s also an optional guided fishing trip (additional cost - see below).
PRICING
Total investment for this 4-night, 5-day all-inclusive retreat is $2100. Members get $100 off, and repeat retreaters do too! (if you’re both, I love you dearly, but I can only give you the $100 off once to cover our costs adequately). A $500 nonrefundable deposit secures your spot, and you have the option to pay in full or set up a payment plan. If you choose the latter option, I will reach out to set it up. Total balance must be paid in full by 6/30.

What's included?
On all of Aether’s retreats, all of the activities planned are always optional. You have the freedom to come and go as you choose so that you can honor your needs at any given moment.
-
We are on a remote stretch of land that is only accessible by boat. It’s the best that the wild has to offer, but you should know that “glamping” in this instance does not include running water or electricity, and very much means you are sleeping in a tent. There is a pit toilet and we will supply drinking water, but there is limited cell phone service (do not rely on it) and absolutely not wifi! We put the glamour in “camping” with real sheets, memory foam, air mattresses, and feather pillows. Choose between our Vintage Eureka Tents, more modern BIG Big Agnes (or the solo version), or a sweet hammock setup if you’re feeling a bit more rugged!
-
We will provide a large breakfast and dinner, light lunch, and snacks and beverages throughout the day. Each night, gather around the fire for a classic camping dessert (yes s’mores, but not just s’mores!). Let us know about any special dietary needs when you register and we will accommodate. Our meals focus on healthful, real foods that nourish our bodies and align with the seasons and circumstances. Aether’s retreats are not suitable for vegans or vegetarians.
-
Enjoy an invigorating morning vinyasa practice along the shore and amongst the pines. Together, we will cultivate breath, movement, and intention to start the day with the perfect balance of well and wild.
-
Get cozied up into bed or stay around the fire and stargaze — evening sound baths will lull you to sleep or let you slip into deep relaxation to prepare to rest.
-
if you choose this path, Sean will teach you how to snare — including selecting the best location, fastening the snare, and processing captured game. Michael will take you on a full day guided fishing trip in the park, supplying all the required gear, know-how, shore lunch, and fishing secrets! There is an additional cost for the fishing trip — $1200 flat rate split evenly between those who choose to attend. You will also need to get your fishing license before the trip begins! Alyssa can help you with this if you have questions. Your fishing trip will supply us with enough fresh fish to feast one evening, truly in spirit of the hunters of old. You may even catch enough to bring some home with you ;)
-
This weekend is for fulfilling exploration and alignment. Through the energy of summer we connect with our inner child, what makes our hearts sing, and the joy + laughter inside of us all. You’ll practice being genuine + in-touch and come away knowing and loving the playful side of yourself to live your best life.
-
We will provide five days of boat rental, shuttle to and from vehicles, and all of the necessary gas to explore! We’ll also bring our two inflatable stand up paddle boards so you can take matters into your own hands to explore the bays and calm waterways around us.
-
There is a perfect 2-mile loop in our backyard at the Mukooda campground we get to call home that you are free to explore as you wish! Beyond that, the islands + wild mainland that we will explore are home to countless game trails and a few groomed paths.
-
There are several places that we can forget how old we are and leap into the sparkling waters of Voyageurs. Some will quench the thirst of dare-devils (Alyssa + her cousins were all given $50 the first time they jumped here!), and some that offer a gradual choose-your-own-jump height for all levels of enjoyment. There are also zero-entry options, so fear not! :)
-
Wild blueberry season is usually in full swing from mid-July to mid-August, and there are berries a-plenty in Voyageurs. We will learn to discern them from their cousins, meet other edible and medicinal plants, and learn to make wild blueberry preserves (which will lend itself to other jams and jellies!). You’ll get to take preserves home with you and provide berries for a dessert and breakfast for the whole crew—truly in the spirit of the gatherers.
